Best of the British
Driven Pheasant Hunt
"Best of the British" Driven Pheasant Hunt, hosted by Chris Batha
Pheasants are high-flying birds that demand a high degree of wingshooting skill. With this in mind, Chris will conduct a shooting clinic dedicated to British driven wingshooting where he shares expert knowledge on guns, gunfitting and techniques necessary to tackle the most challenging and exciting wingshooting event imaginable.
The traditional style hunting will be complimented by world-class lodging, chef-prepared gourmet meals, fine wines and spirits. Each evening guests will gather in the great room for a cocktail reception and appetizers, followed by a specially prepared dinner.
The Highland traditions will be found from the field to lodge. To add to the atmosphere, a Scottish piper will perform one evening and guests will have the opportunity to sample a traditional meal of Haggis, tatties and neeps. Traditional dress is encouraged and adds to the experience.
The Schedule
Day One - Wingshooting School
Chris will cover both Churchill Instinctive and Stanbury Swing-Through Wing Shooting Techniques. Each guest will have an opportunity to test their new skills on clay targets. The clay targets will be thrown from traps over 100 feet high to simulate the unique flight characteristics of the Driven Pheasant.
Day Two & Three - The British Driven Pheasant Shoot
A drawing of pegs will assign the shooting stations. Chris will act as Shoot Captain and assist each hunter in the field with shooting.
There will be three drives of 300+ pheasant per drive, for a total bag of 900+ Pheasants per day. After the first drive, there will be the traditional break for a "Bull Shot"; during which the shot birds are collected. Following the second drive, there will be a break for lunch at the lodge followed by the third and final drive that afternoon.
The evening of the second day will conclude with a Display of Fine Guns, Chris Batha's Charles Boswell Shotguns and the shotguns of FAMARS di Abbiatico & Salvinelli.
Day Four - Traditional Upland Bird Shoot over Pointing Dogs
Given the challenging shooting during the Driven Pheasant hunt, it is possible that a team of guns will average one in three Pheasants shot. This means some 400 pheasant may be scattered throughout the cover, offering fantastic shooting over some of the best pointing dogs in the North America. Chukar, Valley Quail and Huns will be found in abundance as well.
Individual or Corporate Groups welcome! Call to book a hunt exclusively for your group (8 minimum)
Hunts are all-inclusive except for transportation to the lodge, shipping of game meat, gratuities and Pro Shop purchases.
