Weather in Central Oregon

While it is impossible to predict the weather, for the most part it is mild in North Central Oregon. September, October and March usually offer the warmest temperatures for those who like hunting in shirt sleeves. November, December and January provide cooler weather with the occasional skiff of snow. February seems to be our transition month and is a terrific time to hunt. We are often asked “when is the best time to hunt” and truly the answer is “it’s always good”, it’s just a matter of adjusting where we hunt based on the time of year. There is no shortage of birds from September through March. Being a high desert region we get very little rain or snow fall and what snow we do get doesn’t usually stick. Like most hunting destinations, layers are recommended. Mornings and evening will require a warm jacket and sturdy hunting boots are a good idea.
